Hey it’s Esmée!
I’m writing to you guys from my blackberry in the car on my way to Cardiff, UK. We have been touring with Enrique Iglesias for a little while now, and I wanted to tell you guys about everything that has happened. I have been having so much fun on the tour – we’ve traveled to so many different countries. We started the tour in Belarus, and then we traveled by bus to Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. I have never really been on a tour bus before, it’s really a fun experience. I have two dancers with me on tour, Alison and Brit, which is really nice cause I’m used to being around so many guys all the time.
Next we went by boat (ferry) to Finland. It was really big boat, it looked more like a cruise ship, which was cool because I always wanted to go on one. When we arrived in Finland, it was Queensday in Holland. So I went on my twitter to write a little message, when somebody told me what had happened. While everybody was getting ready to party and have a good time, there was an attack on the Queen. Some guy in a black car drove right through the parade after the Queen and killed people while driving full speed. When I saw the images and videos I was shocked. I just don’t understand why somebody would do something like that. I called my family and made sure everyone was all right, and thankfully they were.
After that, we went to Denmark by plane. We always get in trouble with our luggage because we bring way too many clothes, and then of course we want to go shopping in the cities that we go to. They always give us a hard time at the airport, but Mary my tour manager always knows her way around that. We went to Denmark on the smallest plane, I’ve never been on one like that – it had propellers and about 12 seats. So it basically felt like we had a private jet.
After Denmark, we went to Paris, one of my favorite cities. Everytime I am there, I discover something new, it’s just so beautiful. We did one of the biggest shows there and the crowd was great. My manager even flew over to watch the show.
The next morning, we hopped on the Thalys train to Rotterdam where I had my first performance in Ahoy, one of the best venues in Holland. My family and friends were all there to cheer me on and the show really went amazingly. It was so cool to perform there in my home country. I also did a couple of interviews and during one of them, all of a sudden Enrique walked in and asked me if I wanted to perform “Taking Back My Love” with him on stage. I didn’t even have to think about that for one second LOL. I was so excited to sing with Enrique in my home country in front of my family and friends. Enrique is such a cool guy, we really had fun on stage. At one point I thought he was going to kiss me hahah. I didn’t really know what to do so I turned my head away and smiled. After the show, I got to present Enrique with a golden record plaque.
The next day I woke up at 5 in the morning and went to some Dutch radio stations to promote my single “Outta Here”.
After that, I went on a Dutch TV show called ‘de wereld draait door’ where I sang “Outta Here”. Now I am in the UK. Yesterday we performed in Manchester where Alisha Dixon joined us for the UK part of the tour. She is really nice as well. It’s always good to see when a big artist is down to earth. I really enjoyed her performance.
Other than working on the show, we have had some time off to go shopping. They really have some great stores in Manchester. I am glad I didn’t have that much time, because I would have bought everything and it wouldn’t have fit in my luggage!
This blog is really getting a bit too long I’ve noticed hahah. Well that was it pretty much, talk to you next time!
