Trying New Things

Hey it's Esmée here!

Today I went to visit my sister in Amsterdam. We decided to try something interesting and new. I have always wanted to try yoga and my sister knew this yoga school that teaches Bikram which is kind of different from regular yoga.  In Bikram they do all the exercises in this heated room, so it gets really hot and sweaty. I was kind of worried at first because we were not allowed to drink any water for the entire 90 minutes. At the very start there was a breathing exercise that freaked me out a little bit. They were making such weird noises, LOL. It made me laugh... so my sister started laughing as well. I think the teacher thought we were being a very immature.  But after that, the exercises were okay, and since I am pretty flexible it was kind of fun! It's also very good for singers because over time it's supposed to increase your lung capacity. But after 60 minutes, I got so heated... and because everybody was sweating so much, the room started to smell like crazy, which was not very pleasant LOL.  But I just kept on pushing through, and in the end I felt really good. I love the feeling that I get after a good workout. It makes everything worth it. It's definitely something I will do again so I am glad I tried it. Let's see how my muscles feel in the morning.

What I’m trying to tell you guys with this story is, if you are doubting to take a class and try something new - just do it! You might love it, you might hate it, but at least you tried it!

B.Tempt'd Campaign

Esmée is the new face of B.Tempt'd of Wacoal America.  She will be the spokeswoman for Fight for the Cure, which is the company's Breast Cancer Awareness campaign.

The director of B.Tempt'd said:

“B.tempt'd is new with a strong company, and Esmée started on YouTube and was discovered by Justin Timberlake. We thought it was a great parallel. Winners of an online contest will win tickets to Esmée’s concerts, and she’ll be featured on our Facebook page, where she has close to 61,000 fans. She’ll also be tweeting about the brand”

Inspiration

Inspiration

A lot of people always ask me, “Where do you get your inspiration from?” The simple answer is, life. Everything around us is energy and is alive. Sometimes we forget how amazing and beautiful life really is. We ask ourselves all these questions and wonder what is the purpose of our existence, why are we here? I think everybody has this conversation with their friends, family, and close ones. You can go on and on talking about why the world turns, why there is gravity, and of course there are all these scientific answers, but when you really think about it's like magic. I get mesmerized when I hear the wind blowing through the trees or see the sun going down. When I get on a plane to my next destination, all I can do is smile and I think it's crazy that I am flying. When something happens in my life and my feelings get me down, I think of all these things.  I simply think what it is that I want, and I know that the possibilities are endless. If a man can land on the moon or invent electricity, then I can do whatever I want and so can you!!!!!

The Best Wine

Wow... I went on YouTube today and looked back at some old footage. I felt proud about what I have accomplished and for what I know is yet to come. I have to say that especially when I look back at some old videos on tour with Justin Timberlake, I feel proud but also a little bit ashamed.. I was sooooooooo not ready for that kind of stage yet, but I am so grateful for Justin giving me the opportunity to do it. I have to say, I learned some lessons from that tour that gave me the tools to perform better on the other tours. And so I learned step by step on every tour, at every performace to perform and entertain better. I think now I am getting closer and closer than ever to that person I really want to be on stage.
However, I don't think that I will be 100% happy about my performaces ever, even with the biggest budget! I am a perfectionist, but you just learn to deal with certain things that just don't always go your way. That's ok... really it is, in every aspect of your life it's ok if something is not right straight away.  Sometimes you just have to work harder and harder to get where you want to be.
I see myself as a good wine... haha. The taste gets better and better every year, over time!
So cheers to you guys, you will be stuck with me for the next coming years/decades haha ;-)

Esmée Wins TMF Award

Last week Esmée attended the TMF awards in Holland where she won the award for Best Female. This is Esmée's 3rd TMF Award. Last year she also won Best Female as well as the Superchart Award. Congratulations Esmée!
